Roofing Contractors in Pretoria
New roofs, re-roofing and roof structures — Complete roofing installations — timber trusses, battens, concrete tiles, IBR and corrugated sheeting, ridge caps, flashings and gutter systems.
The roof is the most heavily loaded and most exposed element of any building. It carries dead load, wind uplift, hail impact and thermal cycling every single day, and in Gauteng it does so under some of the harshest ultraviolet conditions in the world. Getting a roof right is a structural exercise as much as a finishing one.
Total Home Project designs, supplies and installs complete roofing systems across Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand and Johannesburg — from new-build residential roofs and full re-roofing projects to garage and patio roofs, carports, lean-tos and commercial sheeting.

New roof installations
A new roof starts with the structure. We work with engineered timber trusses supplied to span and load, correctly braced, anchored with hurricane clips or straps and set out at the specified centres. Battens are sized and spaced for the covering. Sisalation or a suitable underlay is installed to manage condensation and wind-driven rain, insulation is fitted to meet thermal requirements, and ventilation is provided so the roof space does not become a moisture trap. Only then does the covering go on — concrete or clay tiles bedded and clipped as required, or sheeting fixed with the correct fastener pattern and side laps for the pitch.
Re-roofing existing homes
Re-roofing is common on Pretoria homes built in the 1970s and 1980s where the original covering has reached the end of its life or where owners want to change from tile to sheeting for weight or aesthetic reasons. Changing covering type has structural implications: tile is far heavier than sheeting, so moving from sheeting to tile requires structural verification, while moving from tile to sheeting may require additional purlins and revised bracing. We assess the existing structure, identify rot, borer and previous alterations, and quote the structural work honestly rather than covering problems with a new surface.
Materials and profiles
Concrete roof tiles remain the most common residential choice in Gauteng for their durability and thermal mass. Clay tiles offer superior colour retention. IBR and corrugated sheeting in galvanised or colour-coated finishes are lighter, faster to install, well suited to low pitches and increasingly popular in contemporary architecture. Chromadek and similar pre-painted finishes give a long-lasting factory colour. We advise on pitch limitations, sheet lengths, thermal expansion allowances and fastener selection, because a beautiful roof fixed with the wrong screws will leak within a season.
Gutters, flashings and rainwater goods
A roof is only as good as its edge details. We install seamless and standard gutter systems, downpipes sized for the catchment area, valley linings, apron and step flashings at wall abutments, barge boards and fascias. Where roofs discharge onto paving or garden beds we advise on rainwater dispersal so you are not solving a roof problem and creating a damp problem at foundation level.
Project management and compliance
Roofing projects are disruptive by nature, so planning matters. We phase work so the building is never left exposed overnight, keep the site secured and tidy, and protect gardens, pools and driveways. Structural work is carried out in accordance with SANS requirements and, where engineered trusses are used, supplied with the relevant manufacturer certification. On completion you receive a handover pack including materials used, guarantees and maintenance recommendations.
